Baby Products Part 1 (Everything I Bought+Reviews)

I have compiled a list of literally every single thing I purchased to have at home when I arrived for my newborn. Some things I have yet to use and will let you know that I will be reviewing it at a later time. Other things I have used a million times it seems like it and it has only been a week so, I have plenty to say about it. Later I will be doing posts on things I think I wasted money on and what I couldn’t live without. You will find the prices and where to purchase the items and next to that there will be a number of ♥’s based on my rating out five ♥’s. I am breaking this blog down into 4 different posts because I have 40+ products to review. You can check out the next part here Baby Products Part 2 (Everything I Bought + Reviews). There is a comment form below if you have any questions about any of these or want more information please let me know!

  • Dock-A-Tot Deluxe (185$ @ Target) ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
This product has been a lifesaver for me. I thought I would be using my rock-n-play for baby Rowan to sleep in beside my bed but he literally only will fall asleep in this other than with me and I really am trying to break the habit of him ALWAYS sleeping with me. I want the transition to his crib to be an easy one although that is months and months and months and months (you get the point) away. I think he sleeps in this so well because

7B6978AA-3C45-486F-AA88-3ABFC7016E40.pngit is so similar to being swaddled, its cushioned all the way around him. You can also make it looser as they grow older. The only downside is that it lasts up to 8 months and it is on the pricey side although I will be the first to admit that I have already purchased the grand deluxe for when he outgrows this one. Another plus is if he falls asleep in it you can move it as easy as 1,2,3… so I can put him on the kitchen counter when I am doing dishes. On top of the laundry machine when I am washing clothes, and so on and so on. In just about every picture I have so far of Rowan, he is laying in his dock-a-tot. Couldn’t be happier with a product for a newborn and I would put this on my must have list for sure. Worth every penny.

  • Mamaroo (219.99$ @ Target) Verdict Still Out for Rating
I just purchased this item about two days ago so the verdict is still out on it. It is another pricey item (around 220$) and also only lasts up to 8 months old. I

10C56B58-21C3-4262-BC3F-C8F213D226DA.pnghave heard nothing but rave reviews about this ‘bouncy seat’ from every parent I know and even the hospital. My step-dad calls it Rowans’ space ship from the way it moves and looks. It doesn’t just bounce, it actually mimics the moves of a mother. Has 6 settings I believe. car seat, kangaroo, tree swing, rock-a-bye, and wave. You can adjust the speed of each one from 0-5. It also comes with a bunch of sounds, I personally enjoy using the white noise.. it is constantly playing even when he isn’t in the mamaroo. I also like the “in utero” sound for him since he was just born he still enjoys the noises of being inside my tummy. Probably why he always falls asleep best next to me or on my chest where he can hear my heart beating. I will let you know if I think this is really worth the money within the next two weeks. If not, I will be returning it because it was super expensive in my opinion.

  • Fisher price Comfort Curve Bouncer (39.99$ @ B1C519F37-4E04-468B-9DB7-7ED698745425.pnged Bath & Beyond) ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I can’t stress how tremendously helpful this oh so simple (and cheap!) bouncer has been for me. It is lightweight which means I can move it around willy nilly with or without baby Row in it. I can set it up on the kitchen island, the dinning table, the coffee table, on my bed room floor.. you get the point. It is simple to disassemble which means it is portable for me. I will be traveling with it this weekend to my grandmother’s house! It only has one setting for vibration but that seems to be enough to work for my little one. Also really helps when he has an upset tummy, he has thrown up on it three times now! Definitely have worn and washed it in!

  • Graco 4EVER 4-in-1 Car Seat (299.99$ @ Target) ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Love Love Love this car seat. I definitely would tell all the moms-to-be out there to NOT purchase a used car seat. You never know if it has been in an accident or not. So, be safe and get a new one. This is one of the few things that you should NOT buy used. Secondly, I have researched a lot (as I said, I am an avid researcher) about the whole car seat thing and they say that car seats that can transform into a stroller are not as safe either. Thirdly, I recommend getting a car seat like this one. One that can grow with them. This car seat goes all the way up to a booster seat. My guess is it will last until 5+ years of age. That is why I recommend this 100% and say it is totally worth the price. You are getting 4-in-1! Not to mention it totally looks like they are riding in first class luxury.

  • Medela Breast Pump (229.99$ @ Target) ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Now, if you are going to breastfeed you MUST, and i say ABSOLUTELY MUST purchase a breast pump. Well, I take that back, you can rent one from the hospital if

IMG_20171216_073702949you so choose. I looked into it and it was 75$ a month from the hospital I delivered at. That is $150 in only two months. If you are breastfeeding you are going to be doing it longer than two months right? So why not go ahead and just purchase one for you personally. That in mind, I highly recommend the Medela Breast Pump. I wish I could have bawled out for 400$ and got the hands free version but there were just too many other things I wanted to sacrifice that extra money just to be hands free while I pumped. I even brought my Medela to the hospital to compare it to the hospital grade one. I ended up using mine because I liked it better. Had the same amount of suction and power but mine did both breast as once! So, take my advice as newly
IMG_20171216_073732049reformed breastfeeder and purchase your own pump. Read more about my story To Breastfeed or Not? That is the Question!. Probably one of the top things I would tell you to buy! It comes with its own bag, a mini cooler that fits four bottles (they also come with it), and two pumps. I love this thing and feel I have ALREADY gotten my moneys worth out of it. Do yourself a favor, go grab one of these now!

  • Boppy Pillow (39.99$ @ Target) ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Another item I highly recommend if you are going to be exclusively breastfeeding at the teat. This helps support not only your baby but you as well. You can just gently IMG_20171216_073144814.jpgwrap your arm around your baby’s’ head while they comfortably feed from your breast. It also acts as a prop for some tummy time for your baby (this is very very very important to avoid “flat head syndrome” and I will be doing a post about it soon!).

  • Bugaboo Cameleon Stroller (879.99$ @ Bed Bath & Beyond) ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Now I know this stroller is an exceptionally expensive one, but I think you should be allowed to splurge on a few things here and there. You just have to make up your mind the few things you want to splurge on. Mine was a diaper bag and strollerIMG_20171216_074001100.jpg because as much as I hate to admit it I like the “in style” baby items. And this stroller takes the cake. You can also find these used for much less, around 400$. This is a product you can buy used. I also have a Graco stroller/car seat that I haven’t gotten a chance to use yet and was given to me as a hand-me-down from another mama I know. So, don’t let my purchase scare you and make you think ALL strollers are going to break your budget because they won’t. I will confess that I am absolutely in love with this stroller though. I was very adamant about getting a stroller that had a bassinet as this one does. It converts into a seat that lasts up until they are a toddler. There are accessories on top of more accessories you can buy for it. I chose to get the ad-on mommy organizer and the nice thing about all of their ad-ons is you can choose over 4 places for each of them to go. It’s helpful to IMG_20171216_074009041.jpgknow I can position everything in more than one way so, it is what works best for mommy. Rowan loves this stroller so far and we have only used the bassinet. He lays in it so peacefully and there is a canopy guarding his face from the sun. It is a rather large bassinet to fit them until they are much older so right now I am placing a large blanket in their to take up all that extra space. There is a nice under-carriage storage area that fits my diaper bag, extra blankets, and more. Overall I would rate this five stars.. wonderful purchase and am especially happy with it.

  • JuJuBee BFF diaper bag (179.99 @ Bed Bath & Beyond) ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I love this diaper bag so much! It can be a messenger bag or a backpack and it’s not heavy or bulky. All of the backpack diaper bags I found when picking one out were very big and bulky. This one was much smaller so I went with it. Here are all theIMG_20171216_074024508.jpg pluses about this bag! I give it four ♥’s only because of the expensive price tag.

  1. Front mommy pocket holds keys (stretch key fob) and sunglasses (cleans lenses too!) with plenty of room for more!
  2. Memory foam changing pad included … nice ‘n comfy, super cushy.
  3. Quick reach pocket for cell phone.
  4. 2 exterior insulated bottle pockets … with Thinsulate by 3M. Keep it warm? Keep it cold? Sure!
  5. Unique main zipper closure system makes for easy access.
  6. Picture pocket to keep photos handy when bragging to friends.
  7. Detachable and adjustable messenger strap has removable memory foam shoulder pad & can be shortened to tote strap length.
  8. IMG_20171216_074029048.jpg Optional shoulder straps … so versatile!
  9. Inside organization includes 4 gusseted pockets, 3 zippered pockets & lots of wide open space!
  10. Back pocket works great for diapers and wipes organization.
  11. Structured bottom with luggage feet.
  12. Teflon™ fabric protector … helps repel stains.
  13. Agion® treatment protects the liner by inhibiting the growth of odor-causing bacteria, mold and mildew.
  14. Crumb Drains … bye-bye mess!
  15. Gold Metal Hardware … we don’t trust any of the cheap plastic stuff.
  16. Light-Colored Linings … you can actually see what’s inside; it’s not just a big black hole in there.
  17. Machine Washable … air dry.
  • Halo Sleep Sack Swaddle (19.99$ @ Target) ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

This is an absolute MUST HAVE for all newborns! Especially if you are bueno at the whole swaddling gig (which I am not). I would recommend purchasing maybe 3-4 blanket swaddles and then getting 2-3 of these on top of that. I currently have two of the Halo Sleep Sacks on rotation. Being a first time mama I went over board with buying swaddles (I probably have 25+ and have only used a few a handful of times). Even if you are a pro at swaddling, take my advice and make it easier on yourself, buy one of these! You can get them snug as a bug and it doesn’t come undone thanks to the velcro!

  • Fisher Price Jonathan Adler Rock-n-Play (149.99$ @ Bed Bath & Beyond) ♥ ♥ ♥

Every mom will tell you that you need a swing or a rock-n-play. I did not get a swing IMG_20171216_073521771.jpg(although I do have a bouncy seat) but I did purchase this rock-n-play instead of a bassinet for sleeping in room. The reason I picked this one? Purely for aesthetic reasons! It is a stunning design, very clean and modern feeling. I like the modernIMG_20171216_073530489.jpg look in things and I really didn’t like any of the “baby looking” rock-n-plays. This particular one is designed by Jonathon Adler for Fisher Price and there is also a bouncy seat to match if you are so inclined or like the look as much as I do. I have used this a handful of times and as much as I want Row to like it I just think he is too small for it right now. That is what I am hoping anyways. To get him to sleep in it I have to put him in his dockatot and then put that inside the rock-n-play. So my recommendation would be to skip this item all together and JUST purchase the dockatot because more times than not he sleeps in the dockatot in my bed beside me (the dockatot is very safe and made to do this). The rock-n-play has two setting of vibrations, two settings IMG_20171216_073541165.jpgof swaying (rabbit or turtle speed), and can be controlled from your phone. My question about all these things being controlled from the phone is what mom is lazy enough to just not press the buttons herself? There are a few things that are nice to control from your phone like the baby hatch and baby monitor but other than that I think it just encourages laziness on the moms part. I want to give this more ♥’s and maybe in a month or two I will be able to but, because he doesn’t want to sleep in it without the dock-a-tot and I feel that you could skip it all together owning that I am only going to give it three stars. Also, the first one I purchased was shipped to us broken and didn’t work. I had to return it and get a new one. Hopefully that is not a sign of poor engineering!

Now head on over to part 2 Baby Products Part 2 (Everything I Bought + Reviews) to get more insight from a first time mama on what’s working for me and what is not. What I think you should invest in and what you can leave behind and save money! And please leave any comments or questions below. I am more than happy to answer anything and help you in whatever way I can! Find out more about Me ♥
